Fancy Blog Envy

Hi Friends! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

I'm having a little blog envy lately. It's not healthy, I know. I want a pretty blog too! Alas, there are a few things that I can't figure out how to do.
Since I have yet to see a Blog 101 class anywhere, I'm calling for help from my seasoned blogger friends. Do you have any tips on how to do these few things in blogs??

Links: I know how to use the link icon to list a long URL. How do you make it say something else but still link to a URL (like to someones blog)? For instance, a lot of you say to go "here", with a link to a cool blog.

Headers: How do ya'll make those cool multi photo headers? I have photoshop elements, which I used for the photo in my header. But I'm curious how people put two, three, or even more photos in their header. Does it take a long time??

Saving: Is there a way to archive blogs onto DVD? The reason I ask is that some people (Ali Edwards is one) write blogs to their kids. She puts a blurb in her blog each day, one for her son and one for her daughter. In case you don't know, Ali is a super incredible scrapbooker and graphic designer.
I do this in word, where I have a 30+ page journal for each girl. But it would be so cool to have a nicer journal, including photos and such.

Any tips you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!!
Have a great day!!!!

  1. Oooo, oooo, I know some of the answers!

Links: When you're typing away in your blog and mention Nancy, and want to put the link to her blog, simply highlight her name, click the link logo, insert the link to her blog and voila!

For the cool headers: go to picnik.com. You can upload approximately 5 photos at a time for free, then you can choose from a limited number of multi-photo layouts, save your work to your computer, then choose that file when inserting a photo. Check with Nancy, because picnik is her speciality!

    Hope that helped!

  2. Sarah just answered what I was going to say... She beat me to it. Picnik is totally rad. you can make a collage and add text/borders etc. FREE. picnik.com Enjoy... Since I am finished with party planning, I am ready for a get together. Email me some dates so we can get something on the calendar. Can't wait!

  3. Hi Summer,

You can also use picasa to make cool headers with more than one picture too. I use both picasa, and picnic. I edit all my pics on picnik, but I've recently begun to do my headers on picasa since I read the tutorial on Clover Lane's blog on "How To Make Cool Header Banner's Using Picasa". TO find that tutorial, just go to her blog (her link is on my blog) and then you'll see that post on the right side of her blog.

    Hope that helps!

  5. Ditto on all the above comments. Picnik is where I get my header collages, but I may try picassa as soon as I get a new computer. My old one may just explode if try to save so much as a word doc on it.
